Name of the veterinary medicinal product:
Neomycin Vetos-Farma, powder for administration in drinking water or milk for pigs, cattle and chickens.
Content of the active substance (s) and other substances:
100 g of the product contains: Active substance: Neomycin 13,000,000 IU (as neomycin sulfate).
Therapeutic indications:
Treatment of gastrointestinal infections of calves, pigs and hens caused by bacteria sensitive to neomycin, in particular E. coli and Salmonella spp.
Contraindications:
Do not use in the case of hypersensitivity to aminoglycoside antibiotics or any of the excipients. Do not use on calves with developed preterophagic function.
Undesirable effects:
Neomycin is characterized by selective oto-, nephro- and neurotoxicity as well as low-grade allergic reactions. If you experience side effects after the administration of this product or notice any alarming symptoms not mentioned in the leaflet (including human symptoms due to contact with the drug), please inform the responsible veterinarian, responsible entity or the Office for Registration of Medicinal Products, Medical Devices and Biocidal Products. The application form should be downloaded from the website http://www.urpl.gov.pl (Division of Medicinal Veterinary Products).
Target animal species:
Pig, cattle (calves), hen.
Dosage for each species, route (s) and route of administration:
Calves: 10–22 mg of neomycin sulfate per kg of body weight per day or 5–11 g per 100 kg per day. The daily dose preferably administered in 2 portions (every 12 hours), after dissolved in milk or milk replacers for 3–5 days. Pigs: 10–22 mg of neomycin sulfate per 1 kg of body weight per day or 5–11 g per 100 kg per day. The daily dose preferably administered in 2 portions (every 12 hours), after dissolved in water for 3–5 days. Chickens: 10–30 mg of neomycin sulfate per kg per day, which corresponding to 50–150 mg of the product administered in drinking water per 1 kg of body weight.
Recommendations for proper administration:
None.
Withdrawal period:
Cattle, pig, hen: edible tissues – 14 days. Do not use in laying hens producing eggs for human consumption. Do not use in cows producing milk for human consumption.
Special precautions for storage:
Keep out of the sight and reach of children. Store at a temperature below 25°C. Protect from light. Do not use the veterinary medicinal product after the expiry date stated on the leaflet. Shelf life after first opening the immediate packaging: 30 days. Shelf life after reconstitution in water according to directions: 24 hours. Shelf life after reconstitution in milk, milk replacer: use immediately.
